Battle obesity in children with a screen time diet; turn off the television and computer.

More kids than ever before are obese. And TV and computers may be part of the problem. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association studied two groups of overweight children. One group received lessons that encouraged them to spend less time watching TV and playing video games. The other group didn’t. The result? Kids in the first group lost weight. They also ate fewer meals in front of the TV set.

Kids who are obese as children face a lifetime of health problems. If you are worried about your children's weight, discuss it with their doctor. And, make it a point to monitor and limit TV and computer time.
