Use Your Children’s Report Cards to Increase Communication

Whether your children’s report card is great or shows a need for improvement, use it to increase communication with them and the school.

Start by using the report card for some two-way communication with your children. Ask about the grades. Were there any that surprised them? Which grade makes them the proudest? What do they want to do during the next grading period to improve? (Even a child who earns an “A” should set goals for improvement.)

If you have questions about the report card/s, get in touch with your children’s teachers. You may want to ask about a low grade. Are there things you could be doing at home to help your child/ren? If a child is excelling, you may want to ask what you can do to make sure your child reaches their full potential.
