Make athletics a positive experience for your children with these strategies:
  • Keep games in perspective. Sports should be about having fun and developing skills. Ask your children about their favorite part of practice or the most interesting play in the game/event, rather than focusing solely on their performance or the score.

  • Encourage them to set goals - but make sure the goals are realistic.

  • Avoid comments about their size or body. Concentrate on the friends they are making, the places they are playing, and the effort they are putting forth in doing their best.
