Welcome to Western Dubuque's Computer Applications course! This course will guide you through the basic computer and technology skills you will need for high school (and beyond).

Your Computer Apps teacher will guide you through the course. She or he will provide the information you will need for learning, creating projects, uploading projects, and more. Your Computer Apps teacher will inform you of her/his grading expectations and completion dates.

This course is designed so you can access it during class and outside of class. It is a resource you can use when you have questions about Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, digital safety, and much more.

Microsoft Word 2016 is a word processing application that allows you to create a variety of documents, including letters, resumes, and more. It is a technology tool that is necessary in our school environment for composing papers and text-based projects. Mastering Word is a critical element of your high school education.

OneDrive is the backbone of the Office 365 environment. Think of OneDrive as an external hard drive where you can store documents and files. Plus, you can share the documents and files you upload. OneDrive enables you to access your files from any location that has Wi-Fi (Internet) access.

Digital Citizenship is crucial in today's society. It is a necessary component for being safe when using digital media and helps provide guidelines for adults and students when interacting online. However, most people aren't aware of digital citizenship and make mistakes that can affect their lives in negative ways. Learn about digital citizenship in this part of your Computer Apps course.

Audacity is an audio creation and editing program. It can be used to create podcasts, background audio, voiceovers, and much more. When used in conjunction with a video creation and editing program, Audacity is a powerful free technology tool.

Shotcut is the video editing program we are using this school year. Shotcut allows you to create stand-alone videos and gives you a large degree of editing capabilities. It is a free program that you can download and use at home. This section of your Computer Applications course will walk you through how to use the program and how to create a video.
